You Are Not One But Many
By DAVID KRIEGER
Remembering Martin Luther
King, Jr.
Your deep voice still hangs in
the air,
Melting the cowardly silence.
You are the one standing solidly there
Looking straight in the face of violence.
You are the one who dreams
That this nation will honor its creed.
You are the one who steps forward.
You are the one to bleed.
You are not one but many
Unwilling to cower or crawl.
You are the one who will take no less
Than a world that is just for all.
David Krieger is president of the Nuclear
Age Peace Foundation. He is the editor of The
Poetry of Peace (Capra Press). He can be reached at:

Wall Street's Concern
by SYDNEY BERNARD SMITH
observe the lords of time &
space
swagger by, make no pretence of
knowing the planet's tragic case,
their money-making's so intensive.
"you've just been walking on our face!"
they find that attitude offensive

The Theme from "Bush"
(With apologies to Isaac Hayes)
by KEVIN CARSON
Who's the overprivileged legacy from Yale
Who defends flyover country without fail?
Bush!
Who's the coke-snorting booze hound
Who busts every drug user around ('cept his niece and daughters)?
Bush!
Who's the chickenhawk deserter from the Guard
Who restored honor and integrity to high regard?
Bush!
He's a draft-dodgin' man, who never went to Nam....
But he did a lot of AWOL campaign work.
George Bush!
They say he's a worthless sack of--
Shut yo' mouth!
But I'm talkin' 'bout Bush!
Then we can dig it!
