What Goes Around

9/11
Nixon and Kissinger
could murder democracy
in Chile
and
never consider
that
a sky scraper might be blown up
in Manhattan
and
a wall
knocked out of the Pentagon.

Those were
the good old days
for death squads.

2

They are naming a stadium
in Santiago
after Victor Jara.

There,
he was tortured and murdered

for being
a singing socialist
in a very well mannered revolution.

saw Victor singing with Phil Ochs
up in the Andes
half time
in a basketball game
miners vs students.

Victor translated Phil
but my long hair
was driving the miners crazy.
